The Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) is a top-tier interdisciplinary institute on the frontiers of Marine Science, having leadership in multidisciplinary research and being home to the most advanced equipment and expertise available on the Mediterranean basin and beyond.

Under the motto “Ocean Science for a Healthy Planet” ICM conducts frontier research on topics related to ocean and climate interactions, conservation and sustainable use of marine life and ecosystems, mitigation of natural and anthropogenic hazards. ICM promotes high quality scientific research on a Mediterranean and global scale, committed to the generation of valuable knowledge and with social impact.

HOW TO REACH ICM

ICM is located in Barcelona’s Villa Olimpica District, in front of the sea, between the Hospital del Mar and the Olympic Port.

  • Address: Passeig Marítim de la Barceloneta, 37-49. 08003 Barcelona
  • Bus: The terminal of lines 59, 45, 92, 71 and V21 are a few meters far from ICM.
  • Metro: The L4 line (yellow line) has a station (Ciutadella-Vila Olímpica) 300 metres from ICM.
